Kosofe Rep: Hon. Kafilat Ogbara’s GESI Advocacy: Driving Real Change for Women and Marginalized Communities in Nigeria

Between June 2023 and June 2025, the Nigerian House of Representatives witnessed a remarkable surge in motions advancing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). At the forefront of this progress was Rep. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Lagos.
As Chairman of the Women Affairs and Social Development Committee, Rep. Ogbara consistently demonstrated her full commitment to amplifying the voices of women, children, youth, elderly, persons living with disabilities and marginalized groups across Nigeria.
Her leadership has not only placed her among the top three lawmakers nationwide for moving the highest number of GESI motions, but it has also cemented her reputation as a tireless advocate for inclusive governance. Through her motions, Rep. Ogbara has advanced policies that strengthen women’s participation in politics, protect vulnerable communities, and promote social development initiatives that touch everyday lives.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with challenges of inequality and representation, Rep. Kafilat Ogbara’s record stands as proof that dedicated leadership can drive meaningful change. Her constituents in Kosofe and indeed Nigerians across the federation can take pride in her role as a national voice for equity, empowerment, and social justice.
