“I TOLD THEM”: Hon Kafilat Ogbara aka Mama Kosofe

In the bustling metropolis of Lagos, Nigeria, from the significant Kosofe constituency, a story unfolded that transcended the ordinary realms of politics. Honourable Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, a beacon of change and a trailblazer in the political landscape of Nigeria has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Serving as the lone female House of Representatives member in Lagos, she donned multiple hats, including the prestigious role of the Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development. I recall telling my fellow youths and constituents that Honorable Ogbara was a passionate person based on development and good governance, and fast forward to today; she has delivered.

In less than a year in office, Honorable Ogbara shattered the glass ceiling, leaving an indelible mark on her constituency. “I TOLD THEM” echoes her promise to bring about transformative change, and the stories of her achievements reverberated through the corridors of power. At the forefront of her agenda was the battle against drug abuse. This issue has plagued youths in different communities in her constituency for far too long. Leveraging her political position, Honorable Ogbara has implemented innovative measures, combining rehabilitation programs with community engagement to tackle the root causes of addiction. As a result, her constituents soon began to witness a decline in drug-related issues, and hope began to replace despair. Her commitment to education was equally unwavering. Taking a multifaceted approach, she has championed initiatives that breathed life into the dreams of out-of-school kids. From infrastructural improvements to scholarship programs, Honorable Ogbara has ensured that no child in her constituency was left behind, sending a powerful message that education was the cornerstone of a brighter future. However, her impact extended beyond policy papers and legislative debates. With a heart for the needy and poor, she orchestrated relief programs, ensuring that the most vulnerable in her constituency had access to essential resources.

The festive season of Christmas and New Year in 2024 witnessed a remarkable display of generosity as she distributed gifts and food items, bringing joy and warmth to the hearts of her people. In a move that showcased her commitment to sustainable development, Honorable Ogbara took bold steps by sinking solar panel boreholes and distributing transformers to various communities. Access to clean water and improved electricity became a reality for those who have long been deprived, marking a paradigm shift in the quality of life within her constituency.
As the only female member of the House of Representatives in Lagos, Honorable Ogbara has been representing Nigeria on the international stage. Her numerous trips representing the nation at conferences and programs across Africa and beyond showcased her dedication to global cooperation and the advancement of women’s rights.
