“*I am the one the people want. There have been so many lies, so many fabrications… but I am not moved by those rumours”* — Kafilat Ogbara Speaks on Kosofe APC Primary

Member representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, has publicly reaffirmed her confidence in the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, insisting that she remains the choice of the people.

Speaking during an interview on TVC’s The Hallowed Chambers, Ogbara dismissed reports suggesting she had lost the party’s ticket, maintaining that the process was yet to reach its final conclusion.

“If we are talking about numbers, I won that election,” she said. “I, Kafilat Ogbara, am the one with the numbers for Kosofe Federal Constituency. I am the one that the people want, and my people are still waiting for the party to resolve that.”

The lawmaker explained that while different narratives had emerged following the primary, she remained confident in the party’s internal processes and expressed faith that the appropriate decision would ultimately be made.

According to her, the interview marked her first public comments on the primary election since it was conducted.

“There have been so many intrigues, so many lies, so many fabrications and all that, but I am not moved by those rumours.,” she stated.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Ogbara said her commitment to the APC and her legislative responsibilities had not changed.

“We have continued to do our work. We have continued to campaign for the party,” she added.

Beyond the political developments in Kosofe, the Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development reflected on the performance of the 10th House of Representatives, highlighting efforts to strengthen legislative oversight, improve access to the Public Petitions Committee, advance technology-driven parliamentary processes, and push for greater women’s representation in governance.

She also stressed the importance of passing the gender inclusion bill, describing it as a landmark reform that would help address the longstanding underrepresentation of women in Nigeria’s political system.

Ending on a note of confidence, Ogbara reiterated the statement that has since become the defining message of the interview:

“If politics in a democracy is a game of numbers, I am the one with the numbers.”
